BASIC FIRST AID

CPR-AED

When someone’s heart stops, and they quit breathing, and they need immediate help before irreversible brain damage and/or death occurs.     EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER

    EMR is the internationally recognized course for first responders. This course is designed for firefighters, policemen, volunteer rescuers, community leaders, and other first responders. It is also an excellent introductory course for those wishing to pursue higher level medical training and want to get an introduction to the field of emergency response. Participants will learn and participate in didactic, scenario, and skills-based learning. This 80 hour course will prepare you as a first responder to assist in a medical emergency. Each participant must pass a written exam and skills test. International certification through AREMT is available to those who complete the course and successfully pass the exams.

    During this course you will be introduced to the following concepts and skills:

    • All skills and knowledge taught at the Basic First Aid level.
    • Basic anatomy and physiology.
    • Performing a patient assessment and treating problems in order of severity.
    • Airway management and ventilation.

    EMT

    The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification is the internationally recognized minimum requirement for ambulance personnel. This 240 hour course is designed to train highly qualified EMT’s to work in ambulance, ER tech, or corporate/contract positions. This course is also a mandatory prerequisite for those seeking to pursue advanced level medical training such as A-EMT or Paramedic. Students will learn through didactic, scenario, and skills-based instruction, as well as hands-on experience through ER clinical rotations and ambulance ride-alongs. Upon successful completion of all coursework and exams, students will receive internationally accredited EMT certification from the Australasian Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (AREMT). 

    Some of the concepts and skills you will learn throughout this course include:

    • A working knowledge of the EMS system and EMS operations.
    • The confidence to respond to any type of medical or traumatic emergency and exercise critical thinking and decision making to treat the patient within your scope of practice.

    ADVANCED EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

    Emergency medical services (EMS) consists of a team of health care professionals who, in each area of jurisdiction, are responsible for and provide prehospital emergency care and transportation for sick and injured people. An Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) is a vital part of pre- hospital care systems. An AEMT has all of the basic knowledge of an EMT. However, they also have advanced training in specific aspects of advanced life support (ALS), such as intravenous (IV) therapy, advanced airway management and increased pharmacologic interventions.

    CANDIDATES
    This Advanced Emergency Medical Technician program is designed for participants wishing to gain a Certificate as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician enabling them with advanced medical skills and knowledge. The course is designed for those who serve as medical center operators, first responders, rescue personnel, firefighters, remote area medical operations, marine and industrial rescue personnel, offshore EMTs and trained EMS professionals seeking pre-hospital care and ambulatory skills, for recognition as an Advanced EMT.

    PREREQUISITES LENGTH/FORMAT COST

    Current M-EMS/ECSI/ASHI Professional Rescuer CPR or equivalent.

    This course is available as a Online Blended Course or a completely Onsite Course at one of our global training centers.

    Online delivery format requires skills instruction, testing and practicum to be completed in person with an AREMT approved assessor in addition to online learning modules.     PARAMEDIC (EMT-P)

    A paramedic is a healthcare professional, predominantly in the pre-hospital environment, who is trained and capable of providing advanced life support (ALS) as part of an emergency medical service (EMS). Paramedic candidates will complete extensive didactic instruction, skill competency, field/hospital rotations and clinical experiences. This course typically requires at least one year to complete. Candidates must pass the AREMT final computer knowledge test, skills tests and demonstrate the required proficiencies during their clinical rotations and be recommended by their local assessors.

    ASHI/ECSI Professional Rescuer CPR or equivalent Current EMT or A-EMT certification.

    ACLS

    ECSI Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) program is a scenario (case-based) continuing education course intended for trained and skilled healthcare providers who either direct or participate in cardiopulmonary emergencies and resuscitation efforts. The course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to enhance and refine knowledge and hands-on skill proficiency in emergency cardiovascular care. This program conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.

    PREREQUISITES REQUIREMENTS

    All individuals who participate in an ECSI ACLS class must be previously trained, skilled and be able to:

    • BLS Certification or Equivalent
    • Perform high-quality basic life support (BLS)
    • Read and interpret basic electrocardiograms (ECG)
    • Understand cardiovascular pharmacology, prepare and administer essential cardiovascular medications

    This course is available for scheduling to individuals or groups.

    Assessment and Treatment of Trauma (ATT) is a new international continuing education course from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) that represents the state-of-the-art in prehospital trauma assessment and management. Based on the most current medical information and best practices, this concise and highly interactive continuing education course covers the critical knowledge and skills necessary to rapidly evaluate, stabilize, and transport the trauma patient. ATT offers students and engaging course that expands their knowledge of trauma concepts and promotes critical thinking through case-based learning, hands-on skills stations, live-action video, and small group scenarios.

ASHI PALS provides students with an opportunity to enhance and refine their knowledge and hands-on skill proficiency in emergency cardiovascular care.

    Understand basic resuscitation pharmacology, prepare and administer essential medications

    Initial training: About 15 hours Refresher course: About 7 hours

    Successful completion is based on achievement of the core learning objectives rather than a prescribed instruction time. Occupational licensing boards, regulatory agencies and other approvers may require specific hours of instruction or other practices.

    Continuing Education:

    Emergency Medical Services CEH provided through HSI, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).
